Painted Sky has provided technical assistance including professional energy audits to qualifying businesses seeking to cut utility costs through renewable energy and energy efficiency improvements. Potential improvements include renewable systems such as solar water or geothermal heating, which are especially cost-effective in Western Colorado. These systems have the potential to pay for themselves in energy cost savings in as little as five to seven years for businesses with high energy use. Energy efficiency improvements recommended by the contracted certified energy auditor and eligible for loan funds may include (but are not limited to) upgrades in lighting fixtures, high efficiency windows and doors, and additional insulation. Requested funds will be used to establish a re-lending fund which Painted Sky will use to loan to participating businesses for energy-related improvements.
